ABOUT ME
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, I’ve always felt the pull of my Gozitan roots.
Leaving my old life behind, I arrived in Gozo in 2012 to start a new chapter, taking my passion for drawing and painting from childhood with me.
A year after arriving on the island I discovered a new passion - metal sculpture and I taught myself this new medium (as I had done before with murals and airbrushing back in Canada).
I’ve always been fascinated by the beauty of mechanics and machinery (this is probably due to my time spent working in auto repair shops and manufacturing plants back in Canada). I’m aesthetically drawn to the beauty of these discarded mechanical parts and enjoy incorporating them into my art - breathing new life into them and giving them an element of functionality.
In fact, I often engineer my sculptures so that they have moving elements, ensuring they become kinetic.
I like to also experiment by bringing light into my sculptures and playing with the diffused or directed light.
My focus for the future will be to create larger scale works of art, drawing inspiration from mysticism and fantasy, and constructing with moving mechanical scrap. I’d ideally like these works to have a social or historical commentary.
Artistic influences include H.R. Giger, Salvadore Dali, De Lempica, Antony Gormley, and Andy Scott.
